A Beginning Rooted in Wonder Before I became a doctor, I was a child who loved frogs. Growing up in Ethiopia, I was drawn to the quiet miracles of the natural world. Around the age of ten, my best friend Hiruth and I turned a small room, more like a shack, outside our home into a makeshift laboratory. It was no larger than a closet, yet to us, it felt infinite.
